Although white rhinos are the largest species of rhino in the world, this little one still has a lot of growing to do! Did you know white rhinos are actually a dark gray color, and many believe the “white” in their name actually comes from a mistaken translation? Female white rhinos generally have only one calf, which can weigh up to 150 pounds. Although they’re very large when they’re born, infants still rely on their mothers for protection from predators. Thankfully, young white rhinos are very rarely preyed upon because their mothers are incredibly strong and protect their calves at all costs.
